The melt went better this time but the post processing was a bit rough.
Melt
Smooth melt this time. Continued to twist and fold the melted plastic after it was melted. This time being sure to flatten it back out to keep an even amount of heat in the plastic.
Mold
Press went well but there was an excess of plastic squeeze out. This made for issues getting the plastic out of the mold. I had to completely disassemble the mold and the steel sheets were stuck in the plastic.
Post processing
With all the excess plastic on this one I had to use pliers to pry the steel out as well as break away the larger chunks. I used a chisel to smooth the rest of the edges.
Learnings from this round
More so a question how was there this much extra plastic? Maybe it was excess air. I am hesitant to cut these open because I enjoy the look of them so much as is.
For next time
I plan to run a similar melt the next round and continue to get more practice in.
