This project came from a need to help prevent scratches and excess dust on the front element of camera lenses purchased without lens caps.
It took quite a few iterations to arrive at this version of the design. Many failed versions either while optimizing tolerances or from testing in the field. This is the version that has been working well to protect my gear for the past few months.

Some key features of the lens caps:
- The smooth front comes from that sided facing the print bed
- WIth a single press this lens cap can be removed.
- The chamfered edge helps deflect impacts that would otherwise knock off the cap
- Uses common pen springs to give a firm hold
- The edges of the cap are ribbed to better interact with the lens filter threads
- The filter diameter is printed into the back of the cap

You can find the files to print your own here: https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/86329-single-press-lens-cap
I also have them available for sell on Etsy here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1158475651/3d-printed-single-press-lens-cap

Note: These caps can be difficult to get on and off when using a deep lens hood. If you use a lens hood that stays in place a majority of the time on your lens this lens cap may not be for you.
